That was fast! Forty two weeks seemed to come and go like nothing and here we are at the end of Season Four of AFITC. Before we embark though on summer vacations how about one big slam bang finish? On the Season Finale of AFITC, we address the Maple Leafs activity at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and on July 1st for the start of the free agency period. Some reasonable moves but not quite the all world activity Brian Burke had been promising.
Quick Hits takes a look at other key signings and trades of note around the league over the past week. If one thing is clear, the NHL economy doesn’t seem to be feeling the crunch.
On The Bubble kicks off with two Listener Emails from Andre and Aaron before the Junior Hockey Report with great news for Reilly Smith, our guest on Episode 4.36. Wrapping the segment will be the one and only Michael Landsberg, the host of “Off The Record” on TSN as he joins us for the second straight season on our final show.
Rigamarole takes a look at why free agency isn’t what it used to be and why franchise altering players rarely make it to the open market.
With season four now in the books, there are many people who have helped us out and given us their time throughout the season that deserve recognition. Our guests who were so generous with their time helped make our show better so to two time guests this season Michael Landsberg and Tom Fitzgerald, Team Canada East World Junior A Challenge bronze medalists Greg Miller, Reilly Smith, Nick D’Agostino, Jeremy Franklin, Marty O’Grady and David Pratt, along with Kyle Pereira, Matt Marquardt, James Duthie, Jeff Brown, Paul Hendrick, Andy Frost, Cam Stewart, Reilly Smith and Jennifer Hedger, thank you all so much!
Thanks to everyone who took time to send us an email, post in the AFITC Insiders Group or tweet with us on Twitter throughout the season. Hearing from and interacting with listeners on our program quite frankly makes the show so much better. That’s your contribution and we are thankful for it!
To all those who were content to just download the show each week and listen; thank you to all of you. Knowing so many people rely on, expect and look forward to each week’s episode makes it very easy to put in the work to make it happen. Thanks to all of you for the incredible support you give to our program!
